Privacy

jukz has no analytics, no ads and no tracking. It talks to one server of mine, jukz.nuulm.com (a Cloudflare Worker), only to make its features work. This page says exactly what that is.

01In short

The data is personally identifiable (your Minecraft UUID and name, and your IP address), it is never sold or given to third parties, and it is used only for the features below. The source code of the mod and of the server is public on GitHub.

02What is sent

  • Opening or hosting a world. The world’s random ID and share code, a random ID of your install, and the network addresses other players use to reach you, including your public IP as the server sees it.
  • Signing in (optional). Only with a Microsoft account: your Minecraft UUID and name, proven with a signature made by your Minecraft chat certificate. Your password and access token are never sent.
  • Cosmetics. What you wear, and lookups of other players’ cosmetics by UUID.
  • Cloud backups. A compressed copy of the world, its name and which account it belongs to. Without an account, your IP address is stored next to a daily upload counter.
  • Relayed play. When a direct connection is not possible, the game traffic passes through the server. It is not stored.
  • Creators page. If you make an account there: your Minecraft name, a salted hash of your password (never the password) and the models you upload.

03Who can see it

The record of a world you host, with your public IP, is given to anyone who looks that world up by its code. That is how your friends connect to you, so share codes only with people you trust. Cloudflare, the hosting provider, processes the connections to the server like any host does.

04How long it is kept

  • World announcements. Gone about 90 seconds after the last heartbeat.
  • Daily upload counters. Kept per day and deleted after 7 days. Without an account they use your IP; with one, your UUID.
  • Cloud backups. Deleted by themselves after 30 days without an account or 180 days with one.

05Your choices

To turn all of it off, set rendezvous.url=none in config/jukz.properties: the mod then works on the local network only. You can also run your own server (it is open source) and point the setting at it. To delete your account data (cosmetics, creator account, uploaded models and cloud world list), use the account page; backups of worlds are kept until they expire because friends may be playing them.
